{"id":657,"date":"2026-07-13T04:44:00","date_gmt":"2026-07-12T18:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newagehugs.com\/christopaganblog\/?p=657"},"modified":"2026-07-14T00:40:45","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T14:40:45","slug":"what-is-christopaganism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newagehugs.com\/christopaganblog\/what-is-christopaganism\/","title":{"rendered":"What is ChristoPaganism?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Merry Meet.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If someone were to ask me,&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;What is ChristoPaganism?&#8221;<\/strong>, my answer would probably surprise them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It isn&#8217;t about trying to force two religions together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It isn&#8217;t about choosing one over the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And it certainly isn&#8217;t about creating something entirely new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For many people, ChristoPaganism is simply the natural meeting place between a love of Christ and a deep reverence for God&#8217;s creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is a spiritual path that seeks wisdom wherever wisdom may be found, while allowing love to remain the guiding principle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Beginning With Love<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Jesus was asked what mattered most, His answer was beautifully simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;&#8216;Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.&#8217; This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: &#8216;Love your neighbour as yourself.'&#8221;<\/strong><br><em>\u2014 Matthew 22:37\u201339<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many ChristoPagans believe these words remain the foundation of their spiritual lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everything else grows from love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a belief causes hatred&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a practice causes harm&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a tradition separates us from compassion&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps it is time to return to the greatest commandment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Golden Rule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus also taught what has become known as the Golden Rule:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.&#8221;<\/strong><br><em>\u2014 Matthew 7:12<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This simple teaching has echoed throughout history and across many cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Treat others with kindness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Offer the respect you hope to receive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choose compassion over judgement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many ChristoPagans see this as one of the clearest expressions of spiritual living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Wisdom of the Wiccan Rede<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most widely recognised teachings within modern Paganism is the Wiccan Rede.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its best-known line is beautifully straightforward:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;An it harm none, do what ye will.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether someone follows Wicca or not, the principle encourages personal responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Freedom is precious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So is recognising how our choices affect others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When placed alongside the teachings of Jesus, many people notice a beautiful harmony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Love your neighbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do no harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Treat others as you wish to be treated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Different traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remarkably similar wisdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Loving Creation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the things that draws many people to ChristoPaganism is a renewed appreciation for the natural world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The forests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The oceans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The changing seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The stars above us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The birds greeting the dawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than seeing nature as separate from spirituality, ChristoPagans often experience creation itself as one of God&#8217;s greatest gifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Wheel of the Year reminds us that life moves in sacred cycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seeds become flowers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Summer becomes autumn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Winter gives way to spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Death is followed by new life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nature quietly teaches lessons that have inspired humanity for thousands of years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Saints, Symbols and Sacred Stories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some ChristoPagans honour Christian saints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others find inspiration in ancient gods and goddesses as symbolic figures, archetypes or cultural expressions of humanity&#8217;s relationship with the Divine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some celebrate Christmas and Easter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others also celebrate the Sabbats of the Wheel of the Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some pray with a rosary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others meditate beneath ancient trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no single way to practise ChristoPaganism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each journey is deeply personal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What unites ChristoPagans is not identical beliefs, but a shared desire to seek truth with humility, curiosity and love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Walking with Christ and Creation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps the greatest misunderstanding about ChristoPaganism is the belief that it requires having all the answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It doesn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, it invites us to ask questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To pray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To reflect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To walk through forests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To study Scripture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To appreciate mythology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To sit quietly beneath the stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To notice the beauty of creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To discover how Christ, creation and humanity might all belong within one beautiful story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Walking with Christ and Creation is not about blending beliefs until they lose their meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is about allowing love to shape the journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is about recognising that caring for creation is an act of gratitude to its Creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is about seeking wisdom wherever it may be found, while remaining grounded in compassion, humility and respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For many of us, ChristoPaganism is not a destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is a lifelong pilgrimage of learning, wonder and love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf31 Gentle Reflection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spend a few quiet moments reflecting on these three timeless teachings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Greatest Commandment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Love God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
